1950s Housecoat *SOLD*

Lovely 1950s housecoat with pockets and full skirt

Product Description

A fabulous vintage 1950s housecoat with Broderie anglaise trim and full skirt. Perfect for dusting off a few 5 o’clock daiquiris!

A vintage housecoat with double-button waist and two shaped pockets – the sort of lovely detail you only seem to find with vintage fashion. Back then, even doing the house work was a stylish task!

Approx size: Bust 32-34″; Waist 24-26″

Above the two buttons, where the garment wraps around the waist there is a hook which can be slipped into one of two flat red cotton loops to give a more fitted shape to the bust line. There is a small piece of white tape inside the collar for hanging the housecoat on a peg.

Approx measurement: Bust 32-34 inches; Waist 24-26 inches

Other measurements: Base of Collar to Waist 14.5 inches
Underarm to Waist seam: 5.5 inches
Waist to Hem of gown 36 inches
Collar to Hem of gown 50.5 inches

Please measure a similar garment of your own to ensure this vintage item will fit your own upper body shape.

Condition: One cuff has an inside stitch keeping it turned up which may need renewing. The other cuff has no inside support stitches. I would suggest adding a couple of little stitches to secure it in place as the fabric is light and, without being secured to the main body of the sleeve, the cuff has a tendency to fall forwards – please see the photos. I have not washed this vintage item so the white Broderie anglaise may need a little freshening up. The inside button was missing so I replaced it with one from my collection of vintage buttons.

This gorgeous vintage piece shows a little wear but at 60 or so years old, she’s still ready to polish off a cocktail or several! Unlike me, she’s in pretty good condition for her age!
