Marilyn Monroe? Jane Russell? Gentlemen will certainly prefer you in this stunning 1950s dress with matching bolero in a gorgeous heavy blue silk.
The tailoring and beautiful detailing on this 1950s’ two-piece is just exquisite. The fitted dress shows the 1950s’ female figure at its most seductive. The bodice has silver and pink detail with covered buttons at the front waist. This waist detail is echoed on each hip-line with larger covered buttons securing loops of blue silk fabric, accentuating the hour-glass shape of the dress.
The halter-neck is beautifully folded as it sweeps up from the bustline. With a shaped bolero jacket which sweeps around the back and up under the arms, there are no jagged or sharp edges to the outline of this stunning 1950s’ two-piece suit. The boned bodice simply gives structure to the piece which has surely been created to celebrate the natural curves of the female form. A beautiful vintage piece for the woman who is confident, sensual and nobody’s fool!
Size: Bust 32″; Waist 26″; Hips 34″
Similar to today’s UK Size 8 but do measure yourself as a lady who modelled this was a size 8 and she found the waist tight. None of us are uniform or conform to these daft “sizes” that vary according to which store you shop in, so I would always recommend having a stiff drink and getting out that measuring tape to be absolutely sure of your own size!
Condition: Well, she is, of course, over 60 years old so although I think she is in terrific condition for her age (wish I could say the same for me!), there is some wear and the most noteworthy flaw is one catch in the fabric on the back of the dress, between the hip and the zip. The only other area that needs a little attention is the hook and eye on the halter-neck fastening. You may want to replace this and some ladies who have modelled this beauty have found the halter-neck too long for them so you may need to move the fastening for a better fitting, anyway.
This stylish piece by “Orland” will certainly let the Hollywood Film Star in you shine through!
