A rare vintage Hermes 1930s Clutch with purse and mirror.
What a find! This beautiful, soft leather vintage Hermes 1930s clutch bag has a silver buckle stamped “Hermes Paris”, on the back. I believe the initials on the front of the buckle belonged to the original owner.
When you slip open the front flap of this gorgeous bag, you will find the Hermes stamp with the address of the Hermes shop at 24 Rue de Faubourg Saint-Honore.
Inside, there is a slip pocket within the outside edge of the bag. The interior of the bag has two small pockets which hold the purse and the mirror as well as the main area for all your essentials. There is then a further wallet area which runs the width of the bag and is secured by a popper fastener. Behind this area, is yet another pocket between the wallet and the inside back of the bag. For a clutch bag, there’s a lot of room – and all divided to help the Thirties’ lady organise her life!
Measures approx 8.5″ at widest point (22cms) and approx 7″ in height.
Condition: unsurprisingly, for a lady of nearly 90 years’ old, this rare vintage Hermes 1930s Clutch has some signs of wear but overall she is in very good shape. There are a few light abrasions to the exterior leather which has retained its softness over time; a testament to the exquisite workmanship of Hermes!
Inside, the leather looks a little worn in places; hopefully the photos are a good guide. The inside of the purse has what looks like a lipstick mark. Otherwise it looks hardly used. The leather-backed mirror is in very good condition. The strap on the back of the bag suggests the bag was never worn over the wrist as it is, also, in very good condition.
